FilePrint Thin PrinterAccording to Dell, print devices have resisted the best efforts of IT management. Dion Smith, imaging sales manager at Dell, says "Our experience shows most organisations have 60 different model types of printer and 115 different types of inks and toners." This diversity leads to increased costs for consumables and is more demanding on the support team, ultimately leading to a higher TCO (total cost of ownership). This problem being compounded by home working, with more and more printers 'in the field'. Not only do these printers cost an significant amount to buy, maintain and support, but the actual 'price per print' is surprisingly high. Tests run independently by 'Which' reviewed the cost of 6 of the best Ink Jet Printers, the results are surprising, with a a single side A4 photo costing £1.59 each. Furthermore Dell outlined the massive under utilisation of A3 and colour printers in the office. Dell says that, on average, 77% of the documents that are printed in businesses are A4 mono, only 20% A4 colour and just 3% are A3. Part of the solution to this problem is to replace all colour and large format print with FilePrint's Thin Printer.
